Didim made a township in 1991. Didim is peninsula surrounded by the provincial limits of Mugla and the Akbuk cove in the East, the Aegean Sea in the South and west and the Lake Bafa and the river Meander in the North. It is located 106 km from Aydin, 53 km from Soke, 73 km from Kusadasi and 110 km from Bodrum. The number of its inhabitants is 25.699 according to the census of 2000 and its area 300 km2.

Altinkum is the most important beach in Didim. Altinkum means golden sand and its sea and beach are inviting to you. The sea is very shallow for a long way out and so is ideal for children.The beach is located centre of town.
